Early Childhood Workshop to Promote Reading Success!

Engage Their Brain!  Multisensory activities for pre-readers to promote reading success.

This 2-hour workshop is suitable for daycare providers, preschool teachers and parents.

"Children who are most at risk for reading failure enter kindergarten without early stimulating literacy experiences." (G. Reid Lyon, 1998.)

The first three years of a child's life are the most important in establishing life-long language success.  Their environment and experiences determine connections formed in the brain.  Participants will learn pre-reading and reading multisensory activities to steer young children down the road to success!

Topics Covered in this two hour workshop:

  1. Brief overview of brain development during the first three years of life.
  2. Brain develoment through experience and the learning environment.
  3. Learning Styles:  How do you learn?
  4. Four modalities for learning
  5. Utilizing the four modalities in the learning environment.
  6. Hands-on activities to promote reading success-
  7. Alphabet activities
  8. Phonological awareness
  9. Multisensory activities

Activities presented will feature inexpensive materials which may already exist in your day care or preschool setting!

Minimum of 6 participants required.  $25.00/person + presenter's mileage.
